After the heavy Edinburgh rain and the 'Great Flood' of 2011 (the one at the bottom of Morningside Road, locals will remember it!) we have been waiting patiently for our heavily flooded basement to get a much needed overhaul. Well the time finally came and much to our excitement the contractors moved in on the 20th February to complete the 3 week job... well... 8 weeks (and a considerable amount of blood, sweat & tears) later and our doors are finally open again.

Here at Couture Rooms Towers we always like to make the best of a bad situation so we've taken the opportunity to give the showroom a bit of TLC. With a fresh coat of paint (we've gone a little darker on the outside this time - Farrow & Ball - Railings 31 which we love!) and lots of exciting new fabric and wallpaper collections to show off, we think it's looking rather fab.

Following a fab weekend down in London I thought i should share one of the highlights with you... A trip to the Jonathan Adler UK flagship store.

We have been admiring Adlers work from afar for some time (he's based in the US) and couldn't contain our excitement when we heard he was crossing the Atlantic and opening a store in the UK.

A potter by trade he has branched out into all sorts of fabulous accessories, furniture & lighting. We adore his sense of fun and whether you want to go all out with his whacky style or just get one carefully chosen piece he will make sure that your interior doesn't take itself too seriously!

And of course I couldn't leave without a little something!

We have a new member of staff here at The Couture Rooms.

A few months ago 8 week old Minnie joined the team. In this short time she has proven herself to be a valuable member of staff and a source of endless entertainment. Her geatest skills so far seem to be finding and chewing things we didnt know we had, talking to us using her unusually bat like ears and treating the showroom window like her own personal stage to show off to her adoring fans. Theres also a small chance she may be moonlighting as a Pet Detective but thats another story. She's quite a character!

So without further ado, we introduce.... Minnie (the Miniature Schzauzer)

Her first trip outdoors was a whirlwind for little Minnie. With traffic going by, pedestrians squealing with delight at her cuteness and leaves in the wind swirling round her head, she wasn't entirely convinced the great outdoors was for her...

Between shows Minnie likes to sit & watch the world go by...

In the future we hope Minnie will become more & more involved in the business side of things here at The Couture Rooms but until then we'll keep you posted on any future mischief... 

A trend we're loving right now... wooden wall finishes. This most versatile of materials can compliment any interior style from breezy beach house to urban warehouse but the price of creating these looks can be restrictive.

If you want the wood paneled look without having to blow the budget on a bespoke installation then there is an alternative. Buy it by the roll!

This is the latest collection to come out of Dutch designers BN Wallcoverings. It includes some great soft colours with a good choice of styles. PS We know the last one isn't technically wood but it is designed to look like newsprint which was once wood... You see what we did there?!

This is a very convincing design from Nobilis. Try hanging it horizontally for log cabin chic.

A personal favourite from Threads. Not so realistic but we love the slightly cartoonish feel it gives. Available in several colours.
